Charlotte ROVAL Trackside PR Activities
In August the Trackside PR team executed a successful video and media package that highlighted the Corvette Racing team and specifically driver Jordan Taylor working with the Hendrick Motorsports teams to prepare for the unknown Daytona Road Course track at the Chevrolet DiL Simulator. Following that success, Trackside formulated a plan to create a weeks-long media barrage when the Chevy Engineering team would use those same tools from the NASCAR side of the house to help the Corvette Racing team that was about to tackle the tricky Charlotte ROVAL. The plan started with a media availability Zoom call on Monday, October 5th that featured Jordan Taylor (No. 3 Corvette) and Chase Elliott (No. 9 NAPA Chevrolet Camaro ZL1-1LE) together that was hosted by Trackside, but promoted and supported by NASCAR/IMSA Communications.
Approximately 25 media attended in person, and then the full Zoom interview was recorded and transcribed. The transcription submitted to all media in NASCAR and IMSA along with a link to view the Zoom interview if they missed it, later that day.
Then on Wednesday, a video shot and produced by Trackside that featured Corvette Racing Team Manager Ben Johnson was distributed to the media that further solidified the Chevy Engineering team’s efforts from an earlier ROVAL test of the NASCAR and SportsCar teams working together to maximize preparation for the race. In the end, the icing on the cake was that the No. 3 Corvette Racing team captured the victory on Saturday at the ROVAL, while Chase Elliott cruised to his second straight victory at the same Charlotte Motor Speedway road course.
Coordinated appearances of Jordan Taylor and Chase Elliott to be featured in the official press conference along with additional footage of Jordan Taylor’s ROVAL preparation. Video segments seen below.

Chase Elliott on NASCAR rescinding his last-lap penalty: “I do feel like they got it right. … I’m biased, but I do think that when you are put in a position where you have to decide whether or not to cause a wreck, that’s a tough one to be in.” pic.twitter.com/8S8p92SSV7

With six road courses making up 17% of the 2021 Cup schedule, is it time NASCAR uses road-racing rules and have local yellows? Chase Elliott gives his thoughts: pic.twitter.com/eflFUUTSFh

Corvette Racing driver Jordan Taylor helped coach Hendrick Motorsports drivers for the Daytona road course earlier this year. With six road-course Cup races next season, does that help his chances of getting a shot in a Cup car? pic.twitter.com/GQdbEEgVUb

We built and provided race tune-in graphics to drivers across social channels, supplied qualifying quotes and report to Trackside media list, supplied win quotes and separate post-race reports to Trackside media lists and coordinated the post-race call-in with IMSA Radio for Jordan Taylor. Here are the highlights.
“Our approach is that we will focus on trying to execute in a situation that isn’t normal for us. It’ll be a big test to see who can execute the best. We have to keep our cars in one piece and get a good result." - @TommyMilner #Corvette #C8R #IMSA #GTLM #Charlotte #Roval pic.twitter.com/rcsQCwxgB9

"It feels kind of similar to a street circuit in some parts. There are few places where the walls go by very fast because you are so close to them. There won’t be much resting, especially on the infield.” - @AntonioGarcia_3 #Corvette #C8R #IMSA #GTLM #Charlotte #Roval pic.twitter.com/xHmKBNchA1

“This will be pretty intense. The #Charlotte #Roval test was important to do considering how little track time there is. It’s definitely a unique track with the layout and not much room for error." - @jordan10taylor #Corvette #C8R #IMSA #GTLM pic.twitter.com/jFq7tXaWWD
