About the Event
February 14-16, 2020
The Daytona 500 signifies the start of the NASCAR race season and is commonly referred to as “The Great American Race.” As Shell and their VIP guests descended to Daytona Beach, FL and Daytona International Speedway this year, the elevated vibe around the race weekend was easy to see and was even marked by the President of the United States giving the command to start the engines.
We doubled down on Saturday’s activities by featuring the first-ever Shell Energy Transition Roundtable. This special event brought together Shell leadership from all around the world face to face with leading customers to discuss the future of mobility. Saturday evening proved to be an elevated affair as well, formally celebrating the Shell and Penske partnership,
Leading up to the race on Sunday, guests enjoyed fully escorted transportation from the hotel to the suite at Daytona International Speedway. Once onsite, they became fully part of the team with a behind-the-scenes tour of the world-class operation that is Team Penske.
Every time we bring guests this close to the action, with this much VIP access, it feels like the first time.
“Shell hosted us in a great way and the tour to the pits, the camper and walking on the circuit is still something I am trying to digest as the impressions have been literally overwhelming.
The whole ceremony with Mr. Trump first in a fly-by and then seeing him speaking the famous words with the jets coming over at exactly the right time, created goose-bumps!”

Shell Energy Transition Roundtable
For the first time ever at the Daytona 500, Shell Leadership and top Shell customers and partners came together ahead of Saturday’s dinner to discuss the energy transition we are all facing and working towards.
Business Dinner Saturday Evening
A massive advantage of being engaged in sponsorship is that it gives you a platform to bring the most important stakeholders of your business together. On Saturday evening, guests from every corner of Shell's businesses, came together and spent meaningful time connecting. The evening started off with a welcome address from Shell Leadership and moved into a great discussion between Roger Penske and Joey Logano about how important technical partnerships are to producing great results on and off the race track.
The evening was capped off with special edition gift books given to each guest, signed by Roger Penske celebrating his remarkable year in 2019 with Shell as partners.
Guests were welcomed from all over the world
Top customers and leadership from: Shell Global, Shell Corporate, Shell Retail, Shell Lubricants, Motiva, Team Penske, various distributors, top-performing customers and sales contest winners. When you have this many influential people together sharing time and engaging with one another, it has the makings to create lasting business opportunities.

68 guests from around the world joined us in Daytona for experiences that went well beyond the track.
They called the High Bank Suites their basecamp at the track for the weekend, with remarkable Turn 1 views and indoor/outdoor comfort. With nearly unanimous excellent marks gathered from a post-event satisfaction survey, we look forward to hosting again at next year's event.
