Daytona 500
Summary
The 2024 Daytona 500 brought together 50 top customers and leadership from across Shell global and Team Penske to kick off the NASCAR season. While we had to battle a rain-delayed race weekend, all of our business activities off-track were productive and collaborative.
The race weekend really started on Wednesday when Joey Logano, driver of the #22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Mustang, won pole position. The qualifying session had 821,000 viewers through FS1.
Despite the rain delay, FOX TV still got 6.0 million viewers for Monday's re-scheduled Daytona 500. The Daytona 500 was still the most-watched sporting event of Presidents Day weekend, topping Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game on TNT, TBS and truTV (2.6, 5.40M).
“Shell and Penske is a great partnership. I learned more about it from this experience.”
Daytona regularly serves as an annual platform to bring together top leadership in the beginning of the year.
