Monthly Summary

Joey Logano won the NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway to secure him a spot in the series finale in Phoenix. Josef Newgarden won the wild 2020 INDYCAR season finale race in St. Petersburg entering the weekend second in points behind the series leader, Scott Dixon. but despite his victory he finished second overall in the Championship it wasn’t enough to win the title.

The Round 3 Racing team hit to social and was tapped in to help support Shell’s State Escape program on their way to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Drivers Sarah Montgomery and Shea Holbrook showed us some of their favorite places to stop in their home states.

NASCAR
October was a pivotal month in the NASCAR Cup Series where Shell-Pennzoil driver Joey Logano scored a huge win at Kansas Speedway on Sunday, October 18th. The win secured Joey’s spot in the Championship Four race at Phoenix Raceway on November 7th. It is the fourth time that the Shell-Pennzoil team made it to the Championship race and first since winning the overall title in 2018.

    • The NASCAR playoffs continued with Joey Logano riding the line of securing himself a seat in the Championship. Joey was able to clinch a victory at Kansas for a big win

INDYCAR
October saw the conclusion of the 2020 NTT IndyCar season, but not before Team Penske could make a little noise on and off the track. Josef Newgarden scored a win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday, October 2nd in the IndyCar Harvest Grand Prix, Race #1. The win and a good run in Saturday’s Harvest GP Race #2 tightened the championship standings headed to the final race at St. Petersburg, Florida. Scott McLaughlin, driver of the Shell V-Power Australian Super Car and 2020 champion, made his IndyCar debut also carrying the Shell V-Power colors in the season finale at St. Pete. Scott ran well but ultimately finished 22nd after making contact with another car past the halfway mark. As far as the championship, Josef Newgarden and his No. 1 Team Penske team did all they could do in winning the final race, but fell 16 points shy of the overall title to Scott Dixon.

Round 3 Racing | Oct 23-25 | Mid-Ohio 
R3R team headed to Mid-Ohio for the weekend where they fielded three Shell V-Power Nitro+ cars for the weekend. Driver, Sarah Montgomery, kicked of the weekend putting the No. 602 team on the pole however struggled with some difficulties throughout the race and wasn’t able to hold position.

BMW CCA Gift Card | Oct 23

BMW CCA held a Dream Car Raffle to all of its 70,000 members. Shell donated $1000 in gift cards as well to the sweepstakes.

They had over 18,000 members enter the sweepstakes.
